"Black Key" (06' SG Model)

Black Key

This female was produced in 06 from my Soul Glow female bred to my highlighter male. She has exactly the look I had hoped for when I originally paired the two parents in my mind. Soul Glow had another clutch in 07' paired with the same male and this season she was paired with my Jaguar male. Her clutch from this season just recently hatched and I am very pleased with the results. I expect both the sibs and jags to be very nice.

In 05' I paired my now retired Price female and the Highlighter male in hopes of creating some chaotic hatchlings that would eventually develop some incredible color and contrast. Below are my are my holdbacks from that clutch, a 1.2 of pure chaos, a little tribute if you will. Listed according to order of photos from left to right they are Lynn, Jackie White, and Attica. They should all be ready to breed next season.

08' Breeding Lineup
I can't possibly convey how excited I am about the prospects of this seasons pairings. Intense Carpet Pythons and more specifically intense Jungle Carpet Pythons are such a passion of mine. I always look forward to being able to pass on potentially stunning examples of a prospective species to other Keepers, Breeders, and Hobbyist so that they can feel the same satisfaction I do when looking in on a breathtaking example of coiled muscle.  Here is the lineup for this season. If anything catches your eye click here and contact me with your name, e-mail address and all the clutches you are interested in acquiring offspring from. Order of selection regarding hatchlings in a given clutch will be done in accordance with the order in which I received your interest e-mails. For example, if you were the 1st person to send me an e-mail regarding a certain clutch, you have the 1st selection, etc.

Pairing 2

What can one say about this pair that the photos can't? This pair is about as good as it gets. The Female was produced in 03' from my breeders Soul Glow and Lash, Python Pete stock animals. The sire, Kid Toronto was produced in 04' from Will Learys Covergirl female who is named as such because she appeared on the cover of Reptiles Magazine. Covergirl was produced by Casey Lazik. I expect the majority of the clutch to be Trophy animals with a few that may take Jungle Carpets to another level. If you desire an animal from this clutch, send your information for the waiting list ASAP as I imagine it will fill up quickly.

Update 2/6/08: Meg is refusing food and appeared to be ovulating on the evening of 2/5. This would be outstanding.
Update 2/18/08: Meg is in full blue, this being her pre-lay shed.
Update 2/24/08: Meg completed her pre-lay shed on 2/22, eggs are next.
Update 3/15/08: Meg deposited 14 eggs on 3/15, 10 are fertile.
Update 5/15/08: Hatched!

Pairing 3

This pair represents the beginning of my Jungle Jaguar project. Like anything, if one starts with great ingredients from the beginning one can ultimately expect better results in the end. Soul Glow, an 00' Python Pete line animal has proven she possesses great genetics by producing trophies such as Son House and Meg, and her looks are undeniable. Thankful, an 04' Leary produced Jaguar has already sired some stunning animals, an example being my 07' male Coastal Jaguar Clevis. I have high expectations for this pair and I very much doubt they will disappoint.

Update 2/6/08: Intermittent copulations but nothing overly exciting.
Update 2/12/08: Witnessed copulation 2/12.
Update 2/18/08: Soul Glow reacted to Thankfuls introduction last night with tail wagging and retreat. She does not currently look gravid.
Update 2/24/08: Soul Glow appeared to ovulating on 2/22/08.
Update 3/16/08: Soul glow completed her pre-lay shed on 3/16.
Update 4/9/08: Soul Glow deposited 21 eggs on 4/9, 20 eggs are fertile.
Update 6/4/08: Hatched!

Dam: Soul Glow                                   Sire: Thankful

Pairing 4

This is a repeat pairing from last season. The goal with this pairing is high black animals with blinding yellows and excellent clarity. If the results are consistent with last years hatchlings, and I expect they will, the results will be right on target with our goals. Click here for an example of last years hatchies. I was very pleased with results. Many times in regards to Jungle Carpets the black is overlooked, in my opinion, the quality of a Jungle Carpets black is just as important as the yellow. Only one hatchling from last season was offered for sale this season more will be made available.

Update 2/6/08: Jakes Girl is refusing food but does not appear gravid. She may need some more seasoning.
Update 2/24/08: Jakes girl is still refusing food and may be gravid. She is starting to plump up a bit and I caught her laying inverted on 2/23/08.
Update 3/3/08: Jakes Girl deposited 15 fertile eggs on 3/1. This clutch was a bit of a surprise. This is the earliest I have ever received a Carpet Python clutch.
Update 4/23/08: Hatched!

Pairing 5

The prospects from Hello Yellow and Kid Toronto should be very nice as their pedigree possesses a long history of quality animals. I expect fairly classic looking animals in regards to pattern with deep black and rich yellows. The Dam, Hello Yellow, is a product of an 03' Matt Turner pairing of a German line female produced by Gordon Schuett and Matt Turners male Powder originally purchased from Casey Lazik. I have owned several Jungle Carpets from Schuett stock over the years, some from his German stock and some with different backgrounds and in my opinion, Schuetts German stock animals were far superior to the rest of his stock. In fact, I would venture to say Gordon Schuetts German stock may just be the most potent Jungle Carpet stock in the country. It is hard to come by but is very impressive stuff. Kid Toronto is one of my favorites and was produced by Will Leary in 04' from his Dam Covergirl and Sire Boaz, both were produced by Casey Lazik, making Kid Toronto pure Lazik stock. These should be outstanding examples of cheynei.

Update 2/6/08: Hello Yellow is refusing food but she does not appear overly swollen. We will have to keep a close watch on her.
Update 2/12/08: Witnessed copulation 2/12.
Update 2/24/08: Hello Yellow appears gravid, I must have missed ovulation at some point.
Update 3/11/08: Hello Yellow completed her pre-lay shed on 3/9.
Update 4/2/08: Hello Yellow deposited 10 eggs on 4/2 all eggs are fertile.
Update 5/24/08: Hatched!

Dam: Hello Yellow                                    Sire: Kid Toronto

Pairing 6

The goal of this pairing is to reproduce the Chaotic yet clean and intense look of the parents with hope for some stripes. Abigail was hatched in 01' from pure Lloyd Lemke stock parents and produced her first clutch in 04' when she was bred back to her normal patterned father. About 50% of the resulting clutch was striped. During the 06' season I bred her to an unrelated male but her clutch exhibited poor fertility, consequently I only hatched six hatchlings, of those six hatchlings only one displayed weak striping. This season I will be using another unrelated male, Udall, he was produced in 02' by Bob Futo. If this pairing is successful, I hope help it will certainly help answer how her striped pattern is passed to the subsequent generation.

Update 2/6/08: Abigail has been refusing food for some time and has entered what I believe to be her pre-lay shed.
Update 2/10/08: Abigail completed what I believe to be her pre-lay shed on 2/10.
Update 2/24/08: She is filling out as one would hope. Just waiting on eggs.
Update 3/3/08: Abigail deposited 18 eggs on 3/2, 15 of which are fertile.
Update 4/22/08: Hatched!

Dam: Abigail                                      Sire: Udall

Pairing 7

I am quite excited about this pairing. Sampsons picture does him little justice but he is an impressive Jungle in person. He was produced in 02' from unknown lines but is quite similar to my Highlighter male in appearance with the same thick blocky head and deep black reminisecent of Larry Blacks bloodline. Penalosa is a large stocky Jungle Carpet produced in 04' from Python Pete bloodlines. I expect some very nice Jungle Carpets to be produced with this pairing offered at a very reasonable price.

Update 2/6/08: Intermittent copulations but nothing overly exciting.
Update 2/24/08: Sampson is not showing any interest in breeding her, this may be a good thing. She does seem plump, but she is always large. We will keep a close eye on her.
Update 2/28/08: Penalosa appeared to be ovulating on 2/26, she is also now refusing food.
Update 3/15/08: Penalosa completed her pre-lay shed on 3/14.
Update 4/9/08: Penalosa deposited 20 eggs on 4/8, 20 eggs are fertile.
Update 6/3/08: Hatched!

Dam: Penalosa                                       Sire: Sampson

Pairing 8

Iola has been one of my most consistent producers over the years. She was produced in 02' by Selective Origins from a Hamper/Lazik pairing. She has been a problem free animal that carries some outstanding genetics. Sampson, as described above is from unknown lines produced in 02'. This should be another reasonably priced clutch with excellent potential. After this season, Iola will likely get the next year off.

Update 2/6/08: Iola is refusing food and looks fairly swollen. We either missed ovulation or perhaps it is coming soon.
Update 2/22/08: Iola is currently in full blue, I expect this to be her pre-lay shed.
Update 2/28/08: Iola completed her pre-lay shed on 2/28.
Update 3/18/08: Iola deposited 16 fertile eggs on 3/18.
Update 5/13/08: Hatched!

Dam: Iola                                       Sire: Sampson

Pairing 11

An excellent pairing between two incredible snakes. The Dam, Plevna, was produced in 04' from VPI stock. She is one of my favorite Coastals as she has a myriad of colors and her overall look is outstanding. The sire, Thankful, is a beautiful Reptilicus line Jaguar produced in 04' and proven for the first time last season. An example of his offspring from last season can be seen by clicking here with my holdback male Clevis. This outstanding pairing will surely yield some top nothch Jags and sibs.

Update 2/6/08: I have yet to see a copulation between these two but of all the females I have introduced Thankful with, this female has seen the least amount of time. She will get more attention in the latter half of this season.
Update 2/12/08: Thankful appears entirely uninterested with every introduction. I don't think Plevna has been ready or willing to this point.
Update 2/24/08: Thankful still has no interest in Plevna, she may not breed this season.
Update 3/14/08: I caught Plevna in the middle of a large ovulation this evening, this is a complete surprise as I did not witness a copulation between Thankful and Plevna the entire season. I hope she doesn't drop a clutch of slugs.
Update 4/1/08: Plevna is without doubt gravid but she did accept a meal on 3/30. I will be surprised if she deposits fertiles this season.
Update 4/12/08: Plevna completed her pre-lay shed on 4/12.
Update 5/17/08: Plevna deposited 20 eggs on 5/17, 19 fertile.
Update 7/9/08: Hatched!

Pairing 12

Waterloo is my favorite Coastal Carpet Python. Her lineage is unknown but her look more then makes up for it. Her ghostly appearance is very captivating and I can't wait to see how her color influences the Jaguar offspring. Thankful is a proven Jaguar produced in 04' by Will Leary from his breeder male Jaguar Benjamin. This pairing is one of my favorites for the season.

Update 2/6/08: Frequent copulations but Waterloo is still feeding aggressively.
Update 2/11/08: Witnessed copulation 2/11.
Update 2/24/08: Waterloo is showing all the signs of being gravid. We shall see.
Update 2/28/08:  I caught Waterloo in the middle of a very large ovulation on 2/27.
Update 3/18/08: Waterloo completed her pre-lay shed on 3/17.
Update 4/12/08: Waterloo deposited 18 eggs on 4/12, all appear fertile.
Update 6/8/08: Hatched!

Pairing 14

This is a fairly classic Coastal pairing. The Dam, Talmage, is a huge animal, by far my largest Carpet. She is very thick with a very large blocky head. Vaughn, the sire is quite large as well. He displays the classic Tri-Stripe morph patterning and has produced some really nice Tri-Stripe babies in the past. I expect a large clutch with some large classic and Tri-Stripe Coastal Carpets if successful.

Update 2/6/08: I have yet to see a copulation between these two and Talmage is still feeding.
Update 2/24/08: I still have yet to see a copulation between these two but she is looking slightly abnormal. She is such a large female it will be tough to tell if she is gravid or not. This evening is feeding night so perhaps we will gain some insight.
Update 2/28/08: Talmage is refusing food and has entered a shed. This may be her pre-lay shed.
Update 3/6/08:  Talmage completed her shed cycle on 3/6/08.
Update 4/1/08: Talmage deposited 22 eggs on 3/31, 16 fertile.
Update 5/25/08: Hatched!

Dam: Talmage                                     Sire: Vaughn

Pairing 15

Busby is looking much darker in this photo then she normally does. She was produced in 04' by Cori Nguyen and is a Jaguar sibling. She has some nice dorsal striping that should work well with the sire Vaughn. Vaughn is as desribed above is a nice Tri-Stripe male that produced some very nice Coastals last season.

Update 2/6/08: I have yet to see a copulation between these two and Busby is still feeding.
Update 2/18/08: First witnessed copulation on 2/16/08.
Update 2/24/08: Most recent copulation 2/21/08.
Update 3/3/08: Most recent copulation observed on 3/1.
Update 3/14/08: Busby appeared to be ovulating on 3/14.
Update 4/25/08: Busby completed her pre-lay shed on 4/18.
Update 5/17/08: Busby deposited 24 eggs on 5/14, 24 fertile.
Update 7/7/08: Hatched!

Dam: Busby                                    Sire: Vaughn

Pairing 16

I love the look of this female. Ednas Awalkening was produced by Cori Nguyen in 04' by a male that was a sibling to Madam Blueberry, if you are familiar. If you aren't familiar with Madam just know she is a very unique female Coastal that throws some very nice hatchlings. Her blueish tones and striping make for a very striking appearance. The male, Gilgamesh, as described above in the Wreford pairing, is an 05' Tiger produced by Brian Emanuel. He is a bit on the small side so we will need some good fortune for either of his pairings to produce this season.

Update 2/6/08: I have yet to see a copulation between these two and Ednas Awakening is still feeding. I don't think Gilgamesh is mature enough and although it is to early to write him off entirely, I doubt it is going to happen. Maybe next year. Ednas Awakening may have a go with Thankful if he is up to the task.
Update 2/13/08: Thankful was introduced the evening of 2/13 and copulation took place within the hour. Gilgamesh has officially been removed from this pairing.
Update 2/18/08: Copulation 2/18/08.
Update 2/24/08: Most recent copulation 2/23/08.
Update 2/28/08:  Ednas Awakening has been bred non stop by Thankful for the last couple of days and she is now refusing food.
Update 3/11/08: Ednas Awakening appeared to be ovulating on 3/11.
Update 4/25/08: Ednas Awakening completed her pre-lay shed on 4/21. Obviously the ovulation date was incorrect.
Update 5/25/08: Ednas Awakening deposited 17 eggs on 5/25, 15 fertile.
